What is a GST calculator?

A GST calculator helps you add GST to a taxable value or separate GST from an amount that already includes tax. It also divides the tax into CGST and SGST for an intra-state transaction, or shows IGST for an inter-state transaction.

Inclusive vs exclusive GST

GST exclusive means the entered amount is the taxable value before GST. The calculator adds tax to reach the invoice total. GST inclusive means the entered amount already contains GST, so the calculator works backward to find the taxable value and tax portion.

CGST, SGST and IGST

For an intra-state supply, GST is split equally into Central GST (CGST) and State GST (SGST). For an inter-state supply, the tax is applied as Integrated GST (IGST). Select the transaction type in the calculator to display the appropriate breakdown.

GST calculation formulas

GST-exclusive formula

GST = Amount × GST rate ÷ 100
Invoice total = Amount + GST

GST-inclusive formula

Taxable value = Amount × 100 ÷ (100 + GST rate)
GST = Amount − Taxable value

How to use the calculator

  1. Enter the amount in Indian rupees.
  2. Choose a standard GST rate or enter a custom rate.
  3. Select whether the amount is GST exclusive or inclusive.
  4. Choose intra-state for CGST and SGST, or inter-state for IGST.
  5. Review the instant breakdown, then copy or print it if needed.

GST calculator FAQs

How is GST calculated on an exclusive amount?

Multiply the taxable value by the GST rate and divide by 100. Add the resulting GST to the taxable value for the final invoice amount.

How do I remove GST from an inclusive amount?

Multiply the inclusive amount by 100 and divide by 100 plus the GST rate. The result is the taxable value; the difference is GST.

When are CGST and SGST used?

For an intra-state transaction, the GST amount is divided equally between Central GST (CGST) and State GST (SGST).

When is IGST used?

For an inter-state transaction, the full GST amount is shown as Integrated GST (IGST).

Can I use a custom GST rate?

Yes. Select Custom rate and enter any non-negative rate up to 100%.

Does this calculator store the amount I enter?

No. Calculations happen in your browser, and the entered amount and calculated monetary values are not sent in calculator analytics events.
